Ethiopia tightens grip on tax collection amid disinformation campaign

Addis Ababa, November 05, 2021 — Ethiopia State of Emergency (SoE) task force officially began its operation today as per the State of Emergency Proclamation No. 5/2014. One of its first decisions is to ensure businesses pay their taxes on time without paying attention to disinformation campaigns. "This is the time of paying your taxes. We want to inform businesses to pay their taxes properly and on time to help the country they love in the same way others are sacrificing their lives for their country," said the task force. Accordingly, during the SoE meeting held today, the task force made three key decisions. The task force suspended indefinitely the provision of National IDs throughout Ethiopia. The task force came to this conclusion because it said it found out counterfeit IDs being produced in Amhara, Oromia and Addis Ababa. Teddy Afro says 'Keep your chin up' despite sanctions and war

Addis Ababa, November 03, 2021 — Yesterday, November 02, was a difficult day for Ethiopians. The Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) was capturing new cities closer to Addis Ababa and conducting mass killings and spreading terror on its path. At the same time, the US was steering panic among Ethiopians when it asked its citizens in Ethiopia to leave the country. As if to add insult to injury , the US had announced on the same day that it was kicking out Ethiopia from the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), a US trade program that has created livelihood for millions of poor Ethiopian women. The day came to an end with most Ethiopians almost feeling hopeless as if no one in the world is understanding their pain. It was also exactly a year ago that members of Ethiopia's National Defense Forces (ENDF) in the Northern Command were slaughtered in Tigray by forces loyal to the TPLF and those who made it out felt hopeless. When they knew they were attacked by their very o

Addis Ababa, 03 November, 2021 – A joint investigation by the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and the UN Human Rights Office said that there are "reasonable grounds to believe that all parties to the conflict in Tigray have, to varying degrees, committed violations of international human rights, humanitarian and refugee law, some of which may amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity".    The report made no mention of the repeatedly sounded "Tigray genocide" and "starvation as a weapon of war" allegations against Ethiopia. However, it mentioned that the conflict was instigated by none other than forces loyal to Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) such as the Tigray Special Forces and the allied militia. "On 3 November 2020, the Tigray Special Forces (TSF) and allied militia attacked the Northern Command of the Ethiopian National Defence Forces (ENDF) and took control of the bases and the weaponry. On 4 November 2020, the f

White and non-Ethiopian black mercenaries were fighting alongside TPLF terrorists — PM Abiy Ahmed

Addis Ababa, November 01, 2021 — While Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed was addressing senior government officials, he made many shocking revelation including the involvement of foreign mercenaries, white and non-Ethiopian blacks. The following is a partial verbatim translation of of the PM's speech. --- "This group of Ministers and Deputy Ministers should analyze and act to understand the process of war. First we need to understand what constitutes a war. War means a last resort to fulfill a political goal. When a group becomes incapable of putting forth an idea through dialogue or debate, it chooses the path of war to impose its idea.   War is not aimless. It has an aim. We need to understand this politically. This group [TPLF] suffering from superiority, first-class citizen disease knew that it could not win through political debate or election. It knew it cannot win through democracy. So now it wants to sacrifice everything to get onto power.   This group is a thief. It steals

We will fight the bitter war and we will enjoy the sweet victory — PM Abiy Ahmed [Full Text]

Below is the English verbatim translation of the statement PM Abiy Ahmed shared on social media. --- "We will fight the bitter war and we will enjoy the sweet victory –   Just as a wicked son would unleash a mountain of agony on his mother, the TPLF terrorist group continues to be Ethiopia’s source of suffering. It has continued to dismantle the country by waging war on four fronts with the forces it brainwashed with hatred. Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) and those who care about their motherland are lined up on all fronts. The enemy is using up its last effort and our forces are breaking it by air and by ground.   Because the TPLF terrorist believed the three fronts are no longer viable, it brought all its forces to the Wollo front. The group, which feels no compassion even for its own people, has lined up from a 12 year old child up to a 65
