TPLF rebel leaders appear in court over multiple counts of criminal offences

Sibhat Nega, Dr. Abraham Tekeste and Keria Ibrahim were among the key TPLF leaders present at the Arada Division of the Federal High Court today.    Former Tigray region President, Abay Woldu and former Addis Ababa City Transport Bureau Head, Dr. Solomon Kidane, were hospitalized and thus were unable to attend the trial. Investigating police said the suspects were wanted for multiple crimes some of which were in connection with the attack orchestrated on the Northern Command, the killing of members of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) in the Northern Command, mobilizing the Tigray youth for war, bypassing the federal government and communicating with different countries and mobilizing finances to fund the war against the federal government,

ex-Tigray region President, Abay Weldu, arrested along with other key TPLF officials

  Addis Ababa, January 11, 2020 - Former Tigray Regional State President Abay Weldu and his former deputy Dr. Abraham Tekeste were arrested and brought to Addis Ababa today, reported Ethiopian News Agency (ENA). Abay Weldu, ex TPLF Chairman and Former Tigray Regional State President (Picture: ENA) Abay Weldu, who served as President of Tigray region from 2010 to 2018, also served as the chairman of the now defunct Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) from 2012 to 2017. He was replaced by Debretsion Gebremichael who still remains at large. He also served as Minister of Finance and Economic Cooperation (MoFEC) until 2018. From 2003-2005, he served as the Addis Ababa City Administration Mayor’s Secretary and Office Head. TPLF militia who fled into Sudan as a refugee tells a different story

TPLF militia who fled into Sudan as a refugee says the youth weren't allowed to leave Tigray and that they were told they had to defend Tigray. While speaking to Vice journalist, this former TPLF militiaman was covering his face fearing attacks from those around him. Sudanese farmers also witnessed armed men who spoke the Tigrigna language entering Sudan as refugees.  

TPLF militia leader who controlled land more than the size of Addis Ababa within Sudan arrested

  Addis Ababa, December 01, 2020 - The Sudanese army arrested a senior TPLF militia leader fighting inside the Sudanese borders. According to reports from the Sudan Tribune , he was accompanied by his family members with a "considerable amount of money and gold". According to sources close to the Sudan Tribune on Monday, November 30, 2020, the "military intelligence of the 2nd Infantry Division in Gedaref had spotted the militia commander, accompanied by dozens of soldiers and his personal protection team, along with his family in the Allaw border area in Al-Fashaqa locality". It was also reported that this group managed to grab land more than the size of Addis Ababa, more than 600 square kilometers, from Sudanese farmers. These lands belonged to Sudanese farmers and herders in the areas of Majaj, Allaw and Allakdi where the TPLF militia inflicted widespread terror operations on villagers, according to the Sudan Tribune. Majority of them were surrendering through Afar regional state where there are the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF). The remaining were surrendering from the force that was cut off in Mai Tsebri. The government thanked the TPLF forces who listened to the call and showed their concern for the people. Additional 74 dead bodies were discovered in Mai Kadra, Tigray region

  Addis Ababa, November 25, 2020 – An additional 74 people were found dead in the outskirts of the Mai Kadra town near neighborhoods called Abinet and Central. 56 of the bodies were found in one location, and some of the bodies were found hidden in a well. Survivors of the attack told Amhara Mass Media Agency that the TPLF forces were intending to hide the bodies fearing an outcry from the international community. They also said TPLF’s plan was to push out the Amharas living in the city. It was to be recalled that yesterday the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission’s (EHRC) investigative report said that the number of people that were killed could be more than 600. It also said the findings of investigation indicate that “Samri”, a TPLF youth group, police and militia were responsible for carrying out the massacre. The bodies of the dead was formally laid to rest.

PM Abiy Ahmed Addis Ababa, November 25, 2020 – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed urged countries to adhere to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of others. He said Ethiopia is a country with a long history and is one of the founding members of the United Nations. He recalled that the African Union has been a pioneer in the past. His comments come after the United Nations Security Council set up an informal meeting on Ethiopia’s operation in Tigray yesterday which was cancelled due to African countries preference for the issue to be handled by the African Union. UN Security Council meeting on Ethiopia's Tigray operation cancelled; A diplomatic success for PM Abiy's administration

Addis Ababa, November 24, - The UN Security Council was due to hold talks today on the current law enforcement operation of the Ethiopian federal government on the TPLF rebel group. Nevertheless, the meeting was cancelled , according to reports from AFP. Although, the Ethiopian government repeatedly expressed that the actions being taken by the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) is to maintain law and order, the international community is being led to believe that the Ethiopian government is targeting Tigrayans instead of looking at the atrocities being committed by the TPLF group.
