Amhara region President summons Federal government to tackle Fano militia

 


August 03, 2023, ADDIS ABABA – Dr. Yelikal Kefale has called upon the federal government to intervene in Amhara region and take the next legal steps to stabilize the deteriorating security situation in the region.

In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, the President of Amhara Regional State, summoned the federal government to act according to the FDRE Constitution.

He said the security crisis is causing major humanitarian, social and economic mishaps and the local security structure is no longer capable to put it under control.

The Fano militia has grown more powerful and the regional government security forces have proved in capable against it. Reuters said it confirmed from its diplomatic sources that the city of Lalibela is now under the control of Fano.

Another Mosque Demolished in Ethiopia as Regional Government Denies Targeting Mosques

                                      ADDIS ABABA – Oromia Regional Government said in a statement today that the demolishing of illegal housing taking place in the newly formed Shaggar City does not target Mosques.
