ADDIS ABABA, DECEMBER 10, 2021 —  Ethiopia's Council of Ministers held its second regular meeting this morning to discuss on the draft proclamation which will establish the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission.

Accordingly, the Council passed the draft proclamation establishing Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission.

The statement released via the Office of Prime Minister's facebook page stated that when the government was formed after the 6th National Elections one of the issues it promised to carry out was an all inclusive national dialogue and consensus that will establish a common ground on national issues.

The draft proclamation will layout the foundation for the establishment of an independent and inclusive institution that is accepted by all sides. The institution will also allow diverse viewpoints on national issues propagated by political elites to come together and find constructive common ground.

Consequently, the Council of Ministers will submit its approved proclamation to the House of Peoples’ Representatives for final approval.

Ethiopia's governing party, the Prosperity Party, has also announced on Thursday, during its executive committee meeting, that it has readied itself to the process of strengthening democracy which, it said, will sustain the existence of the country.
