Addis Ababa, October 14, 2021 – Since the TPLF started the war in Tigray eleven months ago with its “anticipatory self-defense” act against the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) Northern Command, thousands of students from primary to university were forced to stop their studies.

Early on Monday, October 11, 2021, however, university student representatives from Tigray and parents arrived at the gates of the Ministry of Education demanding solutions from the Ministry which has been turning them away for some time now.
“We cannot even continue our studies in other Universities.” Students
It has been more than two months since these students were forced to leave their higher education studies due to the conflict. They said the previous Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MoSHE) told them that it will provide them solutions but it has not kept its promise. In fact, it has been turning them away telling them the staffs were in meeting whenever they asked to be seen by the officials.
“Our children are suffering psychologically. They are stressed. And we are stressed.” Parents
The students who appeared at the gates of the Ministry of Education represent over 10,500 university students from Tigray and they said no one is taking them seriously.

On October 6, 2021, Professor Birhanu Nega, leader of the opposition Ethiopian Social Justice Party, was appointed Minister of Education. The Minister said he will assess the problems within the Ministry and tackle them especially “making the office free from political ideologies”.

He is also expected to provide solutions to the university students who have been persistently asking to be enrolled in other higher education institutions but so far no solution is yet to be provided to them.

This forced the Muslims to throw stones at the police pushing them out of the Mosque. In a statement released on Friday, Addis Ababa Police said that two were killed. Although the statement did identify the victims, they were later identified as Siraj Mohammed and Abubaker Elias. Addis police said only four individuals, 37 police officers as well as 15 different police backup forces were injured. Many expected better years when the Oromia Regional government decided to establish the Shaggar City with a promise of ensuring equal growth and

Another Mosque Demolished in Ethiopia as Regional Government Denies Targeting Mosques

ADDIS ABABA – Oromia Regional Government said in a statement today that the demolishing of illegal housing taking place in the newly formed Shaggar City does not target Mosques. This statement came amid the destruction of another Mosque at Ajamba, at the outskirt of west Addis Ababa. In the statement, the regional government stated that the demolishing of illegal houses is planned to take place around 600 cities in Oromia. "Some groups are painting as if the demolishing of illegal houses targets one single religion", said Hailu Adugna, Communication Office Head, Oromia region. "When we are implementing this decision, many interest groups are disseminating information as if we are targeting one ethnicity and one religion. This is wrong.", said Hailu Adugna.
