ADDIS ABABA, FEBRUARY 04, 2022 — The Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) has launched yet another attack yesterday on Konnaba and Barhale Woredas of Afar Regional State, according to report from Afar Regional State Communications Office head, Ahmed Kaloyta, who spoke to DW Amharic.

The damage caused is still unknown, said Mr. Kaloyta, due to the limited network availability.

He said the TPLF had captured three Woredas and it is launching new offensives into other parts of Afar region. But he said Afar forces are defending against the invasion preventing the group from taking control of other districts.

However, there are reports of TPLF forces capturing Barhale and Konnaba Woredas which makes them the fourth and fifth districts of Afar region under the control of the terrorist forces.

Furthermore, Mohammed Hassan, Afar Regional State Disaster Prevention and Preparedness chief, during an interview with VOA Amharic, said that 290,000 civilians are displaced as a result of TPLF's attack on Aba'ala, Magale, Erebti, Barhale and Konnaba Woredas of Afar region.

"More than 40 aid trucks were unable to deliver assistance due to the blockade. And there are very few humanitarian organizations operating in these areas. The international community should denounce TPLF's invasion of Afar region and the resulting humanitarian crisis", said Mohammed Hassan.

"We are receiving reports that the people especially in Aba'ala, Magale and Erebti are in a deep hunger state and with no access to water.", said the Afar region Disaster Prevention and Preparedness head.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) said that its partners had identified in Afar 65 unaccompanied and separated children, including 27 girls, during the week of January, 2022.

TPLF terrorist group has not only blocked humanitarian assistance from entering Tigray but, with its recent expansion, it is also causing the starvation of thousands of citizens in Afar region.

Meanwhile, Ethiopia's Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, during an award ceremony held for members of Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) stationed at Western Tigray, said that he would fight till the last drop of blood to defend the Western front from enemies of Ethiopia.

He said the Western front has become a hotbed for anti-Ethiopia forces to launch a coordinated attack. The Field Marshal, who did not comment on TPLF's offensive in the East, said the army is sufficiently prepared for the looming threat in Western corridor.

This forced the Muslims to throw stones at the police pushing them out of the Mosque. In a statement released on Friday, Addis Ababa Police said that two were killed. Although the statement did identify the victims, they were later identified as Siraj Mohammed and Abubaker Elias. Addis police said only four individuals, 37 police officers as well as 15 different police backup forces were injured. Many expected better years when the Oromia Regional government decided to establish the Shaggar City with a promise of ensuring equal growth and

Another Mosque Demolished in Ethiopia as Regional Government Denies Targeting Mosques

ADDIS ABABA – Oromia Regional Government said in a statement today that the demolishing of illegal housing taking place in the newly formed Shaggar City does not target Mosques. This statement came amid the destruction of another Mosque at Ajamba, at the outskirt of west Addis Ababa. In the statement, the regional government stated that the demolishing of illegal houses is planned to take place around 600 cities in Oromia. "Some groups are painting as if the demolishing of illegal houses targets one single religion", said Hailu Adugna, Communication Office Head, Oromia region. "When we are implementing this decision, many interest groups are disseminating information as if we are targeting one ethnicity and one religion. This is wrong.", said Hailu Adugna. The Ethiopian Institute for the Ombudsman has reported that it has received over one hundred thousand complaints from individuals whose homes were destroyed by Shaggar City a
