Ethiopians demonstrate against TPLF attack on Afar

ADDIS ABABA, JANUARY 31, 2022, — The residents of Semera and Logia, two major cities of Afar region, have come out in mass denouncing Tigray People's Liberation Front's (TPLF) recent attack on innocent civilians in Kilbatti Rasu zone of Afar region.

"We condemn the Junta's ethnic cleansing on the innocent Afar people", read the placard the demonstrators were carrying.

They also said "the land of Afar will be like the Erta Ale volcano for the terrorists". The protestors also stressed that the Afar people will never negotiate when it comes to the country's sovereignty. They said the TPLF group is the historical enemy of the Afar.

The infamous TPLF terrorists have been launching attacks ever since the beginning of the new year on Kilbatti Rasu (Zone 2), Afar region, preventing the delivery of humanitarian aid into Tigray, killing and displacing thousands from Abala.

It managed to penetrate 150 KMs into Afar region and capture three Woredas. The Afar militia were the only ones defending against this terrorist group leaving them insufficiently armed to defend the civilians who were forced to flee. So far 220,000 civilians were forced to flee their homes.

The TPLF terrorist did not just stop there. They began attacking Berhale Woreda which was host to 15,000 refugees from Eritrea. The TPLF even went on to claim that they are fighting a non-existent "Red Sea Afar Force".

The most heinous atrocity committed by the TPLF terrorists was during the Galicoma Massacre, killing over 240 people out of whom 100 were children. Although, it failed miserably, it was attempting to capture Ethio-Djibouti main road to choke Ethiopia's economy.
