Ethiopia dispatches experts to investigate atrocities committed by TPLF in Afar and Amhara

ADDIS ABABA, DECEMBER 21, 2021 — Ethiopia dispatches 11 groups to investigate the atrocities committed by the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) terrorists in Afar and Amhara regions, according to a report from the Federal Police Commission which is a member of the State of Emergency Command Post.

Zelalem Mengiste, Deputy Commission of the Federal Police and chief of Crimes Investigation Unit, said that the atrocities the TPLF committed in Afar and Amhara amounts to criminal offenses.

The experts are conducting their investigations to expose the grave human rights abuses the terrorists committed to the world.

The investigation will also be held in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice and the regional police.

The report said that the TPLF terrorists will be held accountable in international courts for the killings, rape and massacres it committed on innocent civilians.

The investigation report will also be presented in English, French and other international languages so that it will have international traction.

It is to be recalled that in late October, the Ministry of Justice released a report from an ongoing investigation into atrocities committed by the TPLF in Afar and Amhara regions.

The investigation that was conducted beginning September showed that the terrorist group had killed 483 civilians, raped 109 women and injured 166 civilians.

The report did not include atrocities in Wollo Zone of Amhara region since TPLF had it under its control at the time.

The places the September investigation covered were from South Gonder Zone, Amhara Region, Laye Gayenet Woreda, Nefas Mewcha City Administration, Guna Begemeder Woreda, Farta Woreda, Este Woreda (partially), and parts of Debre Tabor City Administration. From North Gondar Zone, Amhara Region, Dabat, Debarq and Zarima sub-Woredas. From Afar Region, the investigations took places at Internally Displaced People (IDPs) camps in Galicoma Kebele, Uwa, Awra and Gulina woredas and Fenterus Zone.

                                      ADDIS ABABA – Oromia Regional Government said in a statement today that the demolishing of illegal housing taking place in the newly formed Shaggar City does not target Mosques.
