ADDIS ABABA, NOVEMBER 23, 2021 — "Our first priority is to save our country, to protect our Ethiopia," said Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice Party (EZEMA) in a statement.
EZEMA, one of the largest opposition parties in Ethiopia, said, after an emergency meeting it held today, the party's higher officials, members and supporters have decided to head to the battle front and volunteer in anyway possible to save Ethiopia from the existential threat.
"Ethiopians are confident that our country will overcome the threat posed by internal and external enemies through the bitter struggle and sacrifice of its brave children", read the statement from EZEMA.
"Our enemies scowl at our hopes not just at our triumphant history. And to this day they want us to devour one another like wild animals. They have declared war on us to destroy our identity and our dignity", said one of Ethiopia's largest opposition political parties.
EZEMA warned that if the war is prolonged it will consume Ethiopia like wild fire. It said it will even make Ethiopia more vulnerable to even more foreign meddling and pressure.
The opposition party remarked how important it is to stand united at this crucial juncture despite our political differences. It said Ethiopia's politics has complex problems.
EZEMA called on all party leaders, members, supporters and all patriotic Ethiopians to unite to destroy the forces that are trying to destroy Ethiopia. It called on all members to support this campaign financially or with their labor.
The opposition party lauded the decision of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to lead Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) at the battle front. It also said that it has high hopes that prime minister will achieve victory by ensuring that the security structure has a single and consistent command chain.
Finally, EZEMA said that Ethiopia is above the differences, disagreements and shortcomings Ethiopians have. "Our country's existence is paramount so as to solve our political differences. Once we defeat our common enemy, we will sit down together to resolve our differences and our grievances", said EZEMA.
